WHAT CLIENTS HAVE TO SAY

MR. DAVID BALL. VICE PRESIDENT. J.P. MORGAN CHASE.

We interviewed Capt. Surender Malhan in March 1996 for the position of Lead Software Developer in CLR Project.

His interview performance was the best I have seen thus far.

We had two rounds of interviews - telephone interview and in-person interview. In the telephone interview we were very impressed with the quality and depth of his answers. We felt as if he has a Ph.D. in Computer Science. Right away, we called him in for the In-Person Interview in which again he performed brilliantly and we confirmed him on the spot.

At the time he joined, in CLR project we had a development team, a team of methodologists from Andersen Consulting (about 14 of them), the mainframe team and a QA team.

When we hired Captain, we knew he had an incredible background in methodology. We were not happy with the team of Methodologists from Andersen Consulting.

We let them go sometime in June 1996 and then formed a new team with just two Chase employees and assigned Captain the responsibility to lead and mentor them.

Captains work was brilliant. We are very happy with his work. He did what a team of top 14 methodologists from the number one consulting firm in the world could not do.

At CLR in year 1996, we were one of the first to use a Component Based Architecture and we had developed our own middleware. Methodologists from Andersen Consulting developed the business model, but the did not know what to do after that. They did not know how to move from the Business object model to the component object model and how to do component level analysis and design.

At a time when there were no single text book out there to guide component based analysis and design, Captain, set the standards and provided technical leadership and direction. He not only specified the procedures to do component analysis and design, but also on the fly identified creative workarounds in Rational Rose to develop the various models – Component Diagrams, Component Interaction Diagrams, etc.

Captain also worked on one of the most sensitive, mission critical server side component, the booking manager. This required not just good technical knowledge but also good expertise in human relations. He was required to interact with developers from mainframe team. He excelled in communicating effectively and building good working relations with everyone.

I think Captain has been one of the best, I have ever worked with.
